Synopsis
I.M. Pei, one of the world’s most important modern architects, returns to his ancestral home of Suzhou, China, to design a new museum in an ancient neighborhood. Given unique access over 4 years, the filmmakers follow Pei from his first site visit, through demolition and construction, to opening day. "It is," says Pei, "my biggest challenge. It is probably also my last challenge."
