Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz star in Michael Mann’s racing biopic ‘Ferrari’
Ferrari is a sports biopic movie directed by Michael Mann. The screenplay was written by Troy Kennedy Martin, and is based on Brock Yates’s 1991 biography ‘Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine’. Mann first began developing the idea of a Ferrari movie in 2000. A number of high profile actors such as Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman were considered to play the titular character throughout the development before Adam Driver was cast as Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari premiered in competition at the 80th Venice Film Festival on 31 August, 2023.
Co-starring opposite Academy Award winning actor Adam Driver is Oscar winner Penelope Cruz as Enzo’s wife, Laura Ferrari. Shailene Woodley plays Enzo’s mistress Lina Lardi, with Sarah Gadon as Linda Christian and Gabriel Leone as Alfonso de Portago. Patrick Dempsey is featured in the film as Piero Taruffi, alongside Jack O’Connell as Peter Collins. The cast of the film also includes Michele Savoia, Erik Haugen, Ben Collins, Andrea Dolente and Giuseppe Bonifati.
