Gang Dong-won is a struggling launderette owner who volunteers at the local church with his friend Dong-soo. The church has a "baby box" where unwanted babies can be left anonymously. The two friends hatch a plan to sell the babies on the adoption black market. A spanner is thrown in the works when the mother of one of the children decides to search for her abandoned baby. Detectives Soo-jin and Lee are also chasing the trail of their illegal business.

Broker is a South Korean drama comedy produced by Zip Cinema and distributed by CJ Entertainment. The film is written and directed by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, who also directed Like Father, Like Son (2013) and 2018 Palme d’Or winner Shoplifters. Broker premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2022 and screened at the Sydney Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival 2022. The film's protagonist Song Kang-ho (Parasite) won the Best Actor award for his performance.
Director Hirokazu Kore-eda got the inspiration for Broker when researching for his film Like Father, Like Son and learned about the concept of “baby boxes”. These boxes are stationed at churches where babies can be left anonymously for any number of reasons, before being transferred into the adoption system. These controversial baby boxes can be found in churches around the world.
Broker stars Song Kang-ho and Gang Dong-won as friends Ha Sang-hyeon and Dong-soo, respectively. Lee Ji-eun plays Moon So-young, the young mother in search of her child, and Lee Joo-young and Bae Doona portray the two detectives on the case.
