Django Unchained (2012)

Django Unchained subverts many of the "Hollywood-style" Westerns of the past, offering an unflinching and undeniably cool riff on the Western revenge archetypes. Jamie Foxx is at his best in the lead role, balancing Tarantino dialogue with his natural sense of charm and cool. The rest of the supporting cast is just as good, especially the cartoonishly evil (and deeply memorable) performance by Leonardo DiCaprio. Boasting some of Tarantino's best-ever action and a killer soundtrack, Django Unchained is a modern statement about Westerns and an incredibly constructed movie.
