The end of the previous season saw Gi-hun beat the odds and become the winner of the deadly game, earning billions of won. But the game continues in season 2 with new players as the mystery of the game continues to unfold.
Squid Game Season 2 is the second season of a drama series produced by Siren Pictures for Netflix. The show was written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk who is known for movies such as Silenced and The Fortress. Hwang was inspired by his own financial struggles and wrote the story in 2009 but did not find anyone to fund the project until Netflix joined in 2019.
The series features a deadly competition in which 456 highly indebted contestants risk their lives to win the prize money. The title of the series is based on a Korean children's game of the same name.
The new cast members for the second season include Park Gyu-Young, Jo Yu-Ri, Kang Ae-Sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-Uk, Choi Seung-Hyun, Roh Jae-Won, and Won Ji-An.
Squid: Game: The Challenge is a reality television series based on the fictional show Squid Game. Squid Game: The Challenge is not the second season of the show but it is considered a spinoff.
Creator of the show, Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that while some aspects of the show are inspired by real life struggles, Squid Game is not based on a true story. However the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge, inspired by the game show in Season 1, has been released. Therefore Squid Game has become a true story but it did not start out as one.
