Roc - Season 1 (1991)

“Everything in creation is destined to become garbage.” So says hard-working, penny-pinching Roc Emerson (Charles S. Dutton), whose day job is collecting East Baltimore’s garbage. His sassy, sexy wife, Eleanor (Ella Joyce), is a night-shift nurse at the local hospital. So instead of spending his free time with the woman of his dreams, Roc must tolerate the quirks of his live-in father, Andrew (Carl Gordon), a grouchy Malcolm X devotee, and Roc’s slick younger brother, Joey (Rocky Carroll), who shows up at their front door penniless, homeless and jobless. Follow the struggles of a working-class family determined to make a better life...even if all they have to work with is their neighbors’ castoffs. This genuinely warm and authentically funny ’90s sitcom features a tony ensemble cast and was originated by Stan Daniels, who co-created “Taxi” and was one of the producers of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”
