Season 5 of Formula 1: Drive to Survive is a behind-the-scenes docuseries co-produced by Formula One and Netflix. James Gay-Rees executive produces alongside Paul Martin of Box to Box Films. Gay-Rees previously produced the 2010 documentary Senna about famed Formula One driver Ayrton Senna da Silva.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 5 brings back renowned driver Max Verstappen after he boycotted the show after season 1 aired in 2019. Verstappen’s main rival, Lewis Hamilton, returns, alongside his new teammate, talented driver George Russell. Formula One veteran Sebastian Vettel bids farewell to the driver’s seat this season after announcing his retirement in 2022.
