Adolescence (2025)

Netflix puts out so much content that it's bound to get a fair share of wins, but in Adolescence, the streamer has excelled itself. Stephen Graham continues to be one of the most underrated actors of his generation, and his creative fingers are all over this miniseries, with hard-hitting, gritty drama coursing through the veins of every episode. What's most impressive, though, is the ingenuity in the camerawork, with Adolescence crafting one-take shots that simply shouldn't be possible. If you're a fan of Shane Meadows' work, especially This is England and Somers Town, you'll love Adolescence.

Adolescence is a tough time for everyone, but watching this Netflix series of the same name is even harder. Don't let that put you off though. Each of these four episodes unfolds like the best play you've never seen across one long continuous take, and each is more riveting than the last. The technical mastery it takes to pull this off is nothing short of astonishing, and the same is true of the acting. Owen Cooper's breakout role as a 13 year old killer has everyone talking for a reason while Stephen Graham's walking bruise of a man is just as affecting as the words Graham himself co-scripted
