To outsmart this gathering of supervillains, the X-Men must operate at the peak of their abilities. Season 2 reunites the iconic team including Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, Jubilee and Cyclops. Can we expect Professor X to make a comeback and lead the mutants once again in their quest for peaceful coexistence with humans?
X-Men ‘97 season 2 is the upcoming season for the Disney+ animated superhero TV series created by Beau DeMayo.
X-Men ‘97 is a revival and continuation of the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series which was developed by Eric Lewald, Sidney Iwanter, and Mark Edens and aired from 1992 to 1997. Both titles are based on the X-Men comic series by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Showcasing a group of extraordinary mutants grappling with societal discrimination, the series follows their dedication to using their mutant abilities for good.
Series creator and original showrunner Beau DeMayo, known for his contributions to hit TV shows like The Witcher, Moon Knight and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, stepped down from his duties in 2024. Notably, DeMayo's exceptional storytelling skills were recognized in the critically acclaimed screenplay for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, released in 2021.
All the original voice actors from the animated series return to their respective characters in X-Men '97. This means that Cal Dodd reprises the role of James Howlett/Wolverine, Lenore Zann is back as Anna-Marie Raven/Rogue, George Buza returns as Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy/Beast, Catherine Disher voices Jean Grey, Chris Potter portrays Remy LeBeau/Gambit, Alison Sealy-Smith voices Ororo Munroe/Storm, Adrian Hough returns as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler and Christopher Britton reprises the role of Nathaniel Essex/Mister Sinister.
