Someone has survived a supposed death sentence inflicted by supernatural monsters which was previously thought to be impossible. This was achieved through the selfless sacrifice of Song So-hyu and Bae Young-jae who offered their own lives to protect their baby. The success of their sacrifice discredits the power of The New Truth religious cult. The cult is now struggling to explain this turn of events while more and more are becoming skeptical. One such skeptic is Min Hye-jin, who has escaped with the newborn from the scene where The New Truth and the police are attempting to restore order. Additionally, the physical resurrection of Park Jeong-ja raises the question of whether those who are condemned to Hell have a chance at redemption.
Hellbound season 2 is the second season of the Korean dark fantasy TV series directed by Yeon Sang-ho for Netflix.
The series is based on Sang-ho’s original webtoon of the same name with the series being written by Choi Kyu-seok.
The setting of the series is South Korea between 2022-2027 where an otherworldly entity known as an angel appears out of nowhere and delivers prophecies called decrees. These decrees specify a certain future time, whether it be seconds or years away, in which certain individuals will be condemned to Hell.
Sang-ho is best known for directing 2016's beloved action-horror film, Train to Busan, and 2018's Psychokinesis which marked the first ever South Korean superhero film.
The leader of The New Truth cult named Jeong Jin-soo is portrayed by Kim Sung-cheol, who replaces Yoo Ah-in. The rest of the cast from the first season - Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah, and Yang Ik-june - reprise their respective roles. Additionally, Yang Dong-geun and Lim Seong-jae join the cast for the second season while Cho Dong-in and Moon Geun-young also make appearances.
