Shonda Rhimes continues with more Bridgerton as prequel spin-off exploring Queen Charlotte releases on Netflix
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a period drama limited series for Netflix. It is created by Shonda Rhimes and serves as a prequel to the wildly successful TV series Bridgerton which was based on the book series by Julia Quinn. Rhimes was originally an executive producer for Bridgerton as her production company, Shondaland, is responsible for the production on both Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The prequel limited series is directed by Tom Verica whose previous directing credits include Scandal, Inventing Anna, The Umbrella Academy, and Bridgerton.
There are a few names from the original series reprising their roles in the prequel – Golda Rosheuval, who originally portrayed Queen Charlotte, reprises her role in the prequel while India Amarteifo portrays the younger version of Charlotte. Adjoa Andoh returns as Lady Danbury with Arsema Thomas portraying her younger self. Ruth Gemmell and Hugh Sachs also reprise their roles of Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton and Brimsley respectively with their younger versions being played by Connie Jenkins-Greig and Sam Clemmett respectively. Other cast members include Corey Mylchreest portraying young King George III, Michelle Fairley, Tunji Kasim and Richard Cunningham.
