Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a limited series period drama on Netflix. It is a prequel to the highly acclaimed TV series, Bridgerton, which was adapted from Julia Quinn's book series. The show is produced by Shonda Rhimes’ production company, Shondaland. Rhimes was previously an executive producer on Bridgerton and is the creator of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Tom Verica, known for his work on hit shows including Scandal, Inventing Anna and The Umbrella Academy, directs the limited prequel series.
The prequel series features some of the original cast members reprising their roles. Golda Rosheuval, who portrayed Queen Charlotte in the original series, returns to play her role in the prequel. India Amarteifo takes on the role of a younger Charlotte. Adjoa Andoh also returns as Lady Danbury, with Arsema Thomas playing her younger self. Additionally, Ruth Gemmell and Hugh Sachs reprise their roles as Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton and Brimsley respectively, with Connie Jenkins-Greig and Sam Clemmett playing their younger versions. The prequel also features new cast members including Corey Mylchreest as a young King George III, Michelle Fairley, Tunji Kasim, and Richard Cunningham.
