Prior to his death in 2017, Jan Karbaat was the most renowned fertility doctor in the Netherlands. As his patients’ offspring began connecting the dots of their ancestry, an extraordinary story emerged about a man who secretly impregnated more than 65 of his own patients. During the 70s and 80s, Dr. Karbaat was regarded as a progressive pioneer, as he not only helped heterosexual couples, but also gay couples and single mothers. In SEEDS OF DECEIT, former patients discuss their longstanding wish for a child, and how it made them close their eyes to often horrific treatments, which included intimidation and even abuse. Decades later, Dr. Karbaat is sued for malpractice but suspiciously passes away a month before his trial begins.
