Pluto is a science-fiction, murder mystery anime series on Netflix. The series is an adaptation of Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki’s manga of the same name. The manga is based on a storyline in Osamu Tezuka’s 1964 Astro Boy called ‘The Greatest Robot on Earth’. Tezuka is one of the most highly respected cartoonists in the industry and is known as the ‘Father of Manga’.
The Pluto manga has received numerous awards including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. A 2015 stage adaptation of the manga was created, which later went on tour in Japan and Europe. Urasawa has also written other manga titles including Monster and 20th Century Boys. Shinshu Fuji leads the voice cast as Detective Gesicht, the Europol robot detective investigating the crime. Yoko Hikasa voices the advanced robot boy Atom, with Minori Suzuki as Uran, Atom’s younger sister.
