Four ambitious women rely on each other for support as they juggle high-powered careers with busy family and personal lives. Bonded by their Ivy League education and boardroom success, investment banker Zoe Burden (Frances O’Connor), magazine editor Mia Mason (Lucy Liu), hotel COO Juliet Draper (Miranda Otto) and cosmetics executive Caitlin Dowd (Bonnie Somerville) are four bright and driven women who support each other through thick and thin. But ambition comes with a price, and scheming rivals are always eager to bring them down. As Zoe’s career is threatened by a younger employee’s affair with a senior partner and Caitlin’s feelings for her beautiful new assistant force her to admit that she might be gay, Mia’s relationship with her boyfriend is strained when they compete for an all-or-nothing promotion and Juliet discovers that her husband is cheating on her — again. Yet in the end, it’s their longtime friendship that helps these four face whatever New York City’s fast-lane life can throw at them.
