Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender renewed for third and final season
Avatar: The Last Airbender season 3 is the upcoming final season of Netflix’s action-fantasy series. Following the show’s extremely successful premiere, in which the show was watched by 21.2 million viewers and totalled 154.4 million hours of viewing in its first week of release. Netflix subsequently renewed the show for a second and third season.
Albert Kim was the showrunner for season 1 of the Netflix series. Kim stepped down a few months after the show’s premiere, but remains involved as an executive producer. Jabbar Raisani and Christine Boylan serve as showrunners for season 2 and 3. The series is a live-action adaptation of Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko’s 2005 Nickelodeon animated series of the same name.
Gordon Cormier stars in Avatar: The Last Airbender as Aang in his breakout role. Cormier previously had a recurring role in the post-apocalyptic fantasy series The Stand. Avatar: The Last Airbender also stars Kiawentiio as Katara, Ousley as Sokka, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai and Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko. The supporting roles are Maria Zhang as Suki, Paul Sun-Hyung as Uncle Iroh, Thalia Tran as Mei, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Lim Kay Sui as Monk Gyatso, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee and Ken Leung as Commander Zhao. The ensemble cast also includes Amber Midthunder, Tamlyn Tomita, Yvonne Chapman, Casey Camp-Horinek, Arden Cho, A Martinez, Nathaniel Arcand, Meegwun Fairbrother and Utkarsh Ambudkar.
