Synopsis
An estranged daughter and mother must work together to make it out alive
When a young woman finds herself in danger, she must reconnect with her estranged mother. Her mother is a highly trained assassin, and she soon understands exactly why her mother gave her up in the first place. Drawn out of hiding to protect her family, the mother must step back into her daughter’s world to protect her from danger.

The Mother is an action-thriller movie directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider, Mulan). The film is distributed by Netflix, with the story created by Misha Green (Lovecraft Country). Green also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) and Peter Craig (Top Gun: Maverick). New Zealander Ben Seresin (Godzilla vs. Kong) serves as cinematographer.
Leading the cast is dancer, singer, actress and producer Jennifer Lopez (Hustlers). She stars as the titular assassin who steps in to protect her estranged daughter, played by Lucy Paez. Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, The Handmaid’s Tale), Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries) and Omari Hardwick (Power) also star.
