Synopsis
Opposites attract as Ember and Wade meet
In Element City, the residents each take on a specific element: Water, Fire, Air or Land. Ember is a fiery go-getter, while Wade is a watery guy who likes to go with the flow. When they start to hang out, they realise that maybe water and fire can get along, and that they have more in common than they had previously thought.

What to know
The Good Dinosaur director returns with second Pixar film
Elemental is an animated movie from Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studio. It is Pixar’s 27th animated feature film, and is directed by Peter Sohn who also directed The Good Dinosaur. The story was inspired by Sohn’s personal experience as an immigrant, when his family moved from Korea in the 1970s to New York. The vast variety of cultures while living in the Bronx gave him the idea of a city that is home to different elements living and working side-by-side. Sohn’s family also opened up a shop called Sohn’s Fruits and Vegetables, similar to Ember’s family in the film.
Pixar veteran Denise Ream (Toy Story 4) returns to produce the film, with a score from Thomas Newman (American Beauty, Skyfall). Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie voice the main characters Ember Lumen and Wade Ripple. The Pixar short film Dug Days: Carl’s Date will play before Elemental while screening theatrically. This will be the first time in 5 years that a Pixar short is played before the film, with the last occasion being the theatrical release of The Incredibles 2. The film took 7 years to make.
