Jonas Cuaron, son of legendary Roma director, helms new Netflix fantasy family film
Chupa is a fantasy movie produced by 26th Street Pictures and distributed by Netflix. The screenplay is written by Tim Sexton and Jonás Cuarón and is based on an original script by Marcus Rinehart, Sean Kennedy Moore, and Joe Barnathan. The original story was written by Brendan Bellomo. Chupa is directed by Jonás Cuarón, son of the acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón (Roma, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). Jonás has worked on a host of movies including a writing credit on the award-winning movie Gravity. Chupa marks his third directorial effort.
Evan Whitten plays Alex, the young boy at the centre of the story. Demián Bichir is Chava and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) plays the scientist hunting Chupa, Richard Quinn. Ashley Ciarra and Nickolas Verdugo round up the main cast.
