Synopsis
Ancient Chinese folklore comes to life in The Monkey King film
When the Dragon King steals his magic stick, the Monkey King must defeat evil creatures and powerful Gods to get back his lost possession. Throughout his journey, he understands that his ego is his own worst enemy, and he is the only one who can defeat it to become his best self.

Jimmy O. Yang, Stephanie Tsu and BD Wong star in Netflix animated movie
The Monkey King is a Netflix animated comedy film. The film is produced by Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Chow, known for Shaolin Soccer, executive produces with Peilin Chou and Kendra Haaland producing. Anthony Stacchi, a storyboard artist, experienced animator, screenwriter and film director helms the movie, with a screenplay written by Ron Friedman and Steve Bencich. The duo previously wrote Chicken Little and Open Season.
Jimmy O. Yang, an actor, writer and stand-up comedian known from Silicon Valley, Space Force and Crazy Rich Asians, leads the cast. Bowen Yang, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Jo Koy, Ron Tuan and Hoon Lee are all part of the voice cast, along with Stephanie Tsu (Spongebob Squarepants) and BD Wong (Mr Robot, Mulan)
