Revival (2025)

Don’t pigeonhole “Revival” as a “sci-fi” show. That’s what they used to say about “Jag” -- that it was a military show. But it wasn’t a military show, it was a show about people with a military backdrop. “Revival” is a fantastic situation that these people find themselves in – it’s not a “zombie show.” That whole zombie thing has been beaten to death as far as I’m concerned. We don't have mindless, flesh-eating robots – these are people who have come back to life, not zombies. It has so many twists and turns. It’s Mister Toad’s Wild Ride through a fantastic set of circumstances. It’s a great escape and a fun place to live for 45 minutes once a day.

It’s a zombie show, a pandemic series, a police procedural, *and* it even has vibes of lighter zombie flicks like Warm Bodies. Syfy’s new series Revival is inspired by the comic of the same name and is a seriously fun time. Mixing horror and quirk, the show centers around a small town where suddenly dozens of dead people have come back to life. But not all the zombies are the bloodthirsty type…and there might even be something more mysterious hiding out in the woods. If you love horror shows like From and want a good dose of smart wit like The Santa Clarita Diet, then Revival is for you.
