The Accountant² (2025)

A sequel to 2016's The Accountant, the somewhat expected action movie tropes are elevated to an entirely new level thanks to two charming lead performances. Reprising their roles as estranged brothers Christian and Braxton, Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal find a deceptively great rhythm as they squabble, bond, and fight their way through faceless goons to unravel a criminal ring. The cast is solid across the board, especially Daniella Pineda as a mysterious wildcard, but there's no denying that the film is best when it lets Affleck and Bernthal riff on their surprisingly great dynamic.

The Accountant 2 might seem like just another sequel trying to cash in on past success, but it's actually a smarter, slicker evolution of the original. Ben Affleck steps back into the role of Christian Wolff, the autistic accountant with a knack for numbers and an even deadlier talent for violence. But this time, the story is about what happens when control starts to slip. Director Gavin O'Connor pivots into more action-forward territory instead of digging too deep into a backstory. If you liked the first film's mix of cool intelligence and sudden brutality, you'll find plenty to love.
