Synopsis

As the team return to the pitch for the 2022/2023 football season, the Wrexham town’s people discuss their hopes, dreams, and worries. Meanwhile, team owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney settle into their roles and do all they can to see Wrexham AFC get promoted to the next division.

Welcome to Wrexham Season 2 is the second season of FX’s all-access sports docuseries produced by Boardwalk Pictures and FX Productions. The series follows the progress of the Wrexham AFC team, a Welsh professional association football team, which was on the brink of destruction before being bought by Canadian-American actor Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) in 2021.
While the series stars Reynolds and McElhenney, showing them go through the motions of managing a club while previously knowing nothing about the role, it also heavily focuses on the team and the town of Wrexham and its working-class population. As the town struggles through the pandemic, many hopes and dreams for the future are projected onto the team, drawing the community together as they rally around a common cause.
