Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney return with a second season of FX’s football docuseries
Welcome to Wrexham Season 2 is the second season of FX’s all-access sports docuseries produced by Boardwalk Pictures and FX Productions. The series follows the progress of the Wrexham AFC team, a Welsh professional association football team, which was on the brink of destruction before being bought by Canadian-American actor Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) in 2021.
While the series stars Reynolds and McElhenney, showing them go through the motions of managing a club while previously knowing nothing about the role, it also heavily focuses on the team and the town of Wrexham and its working-class population. As the town struggles through the pandemic, many hopes and dreams for the future are projected onto the team, drawing the community together as they rally around a common cause.
