Three Christopher Nolan movies are in the Top 10 charts this week. Fans are rewatching his past films following the success of Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer premiered in cinemas on July 21. It is a critical and commercial success and has broken IMAX box office records.
Elemental enters the Top 10 this week, with the Pixar animated movie available on Disney+. Other popular movies, including Spider-Man: Across the Universe and Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, have spent many weeks on the charts. Here are the most-watched movies of the week:
#10: Interstellar
Interstellar drops down one place from last week, as it stays on the Top 10 for another week. The film was released in 2014, as Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway explore the boundaries of space travel in this science-fiction drama. The film also stars a young Timothée Chalamet and Mackenzie Foy. Interstellar is co-written by brothers Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan.

#9: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The space adventures continue with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 landing in ninth place. James Gunn’s final instalment of the Marvel franchise premiered in May this year, and has been one of the most successful movies of 2023. Gunn is now working on the reimagined DC Universe with Peter Safran, with his upcoming Superman: Legacy scheduled for release in 2025.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is available to stream on Disney+.
#8: The Meg
Jason Statham fights off thugs, bad guys, and now sharks. The Meg lands on the Top 10 streaming charts while its sequel plays in cinemas. Statham stars as Jonas Taylor. He must wrestle with the Megalodon, a legendary shark that lives deep in the Pacific Ocean. Meg 2: The Trench premiered in theatres on August 4, 2023.

#7: Elemental
The Pixar animated movie is about Ember and Wade’s unlikely friendship. The fire and water elements both live in Element City, and they bond despite their obvious differences. The film is written and directed by Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur) and based on his personal experience as an immigrant growing up in New York City. Despite an initial box office failure, Elemental has been a slow burn success.

#6: John Wick: Chapter 4
John Wick: Chapter 4 reenters the Top 10 at number six. The film has been in and out of the Top 10 for many weeks. Keanu Reeves returns as hitman John Wick in the action thriller film franchise. Facing off against the High Table, Wick cannot rest until they are dead or destroyed. Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburn, Lance Reddick and Ian McShane star in the film, with Bill Skarsgård as Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont.

#5: Tenet
In a high-stakes world of espionage and international mystery, The Protagonist must prevent an attack to save the world. But he only has one clue: The word, Tenet. John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and Dimple Kapadia star in the science fiction thriller. Frequent Nolan collaborators Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh also star in Christopher Nolan’s third entry on this week’s Top 10.

#4: The Prestige
One of Nolan’s earlier films, The Prestige is a psychological thriller movie. It follows two rival magicians in the 1890s. Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Michael Caine and Scarlett Johnasson all star in the 2006 film. David Bowie also appears as Nikola Tesla. The Prestige is based on Christopher Priest’s fantasy novel of the same name. The screenplay is written by Jonathan and Christopher Nolan.

#3: No Hard Feelings
Jennifer Lawrence stars in the summer blockbuster comedy, as Maddie. Maddie is a 32-year-old Uber driver whose car has just been towed. Desperate for money, she agrees to date a well-to-do couple’s 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman) before he heads off to university. In exchange, the couple will buy her a new car. The slapstick comedy also stars Laura Benanti, Matthew Broderick and Natalie Morales.

#2: Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves became available to stream in July 2023. Since then, the movie has consistently ranked in the Top 10. The fantasy adventure movie starring Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez is based on the role playing game of the same name. Edgin (Pine) must battle against cunning rogue Forge Fitzwilliam (Hugh Grant) and evil sorceress Sofina (Daisy Head). After escaping imprisonment, Edgin is fighting for his daughter and to bring his wife back from the dead. Regé-Jean Page also features as paladin Xenk Yendar.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is available on Paramount+, Sky Go and Now Cinema.
#1: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the animated smash hit movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. A massive success in its own right, Across the Spider-Verse made half a billion dollars worldwide in less than three weeks. The film sees the return of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld). They set off into the Spider-Verse to warn the Spider-People of a new threat. The hugely talented cast includes Oscar Isaac, Daniel Kaluuya, and Issa Rae with Jason Schwartzman as the film’s villain, The Spot / Jonathan Ohnn.
