Supernatural film ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’ draws inspiration from Gabriele Amorth’s real-life accounts of horror.
Based on the real-life memoirs of one of the world’s most popular exorcists, The Pope’s Exorcist is a supernatural horror film directed by Julius Avery. The director behind other supernatural films like Samaritan and Overlord. The film’s story has been adapted from the books An Exorcist Tells His Story, and An Exorcist: More Stories by Father Gabriele Amorth.
Actor Russell Crowe assumes the lead role of Father Garbiele Amoth in this thrilling horror film, while Italian actor Franco Nero stars as the Pope. The movie also features prominent roles from actors Alex Essoe and Daniel Zovatto. Laurel Marsden, Cornell S. John, and Peter DeSouza-Feighoney join the expanded cast.
The movie was originally set to be directed by Angel Gomez, however he was replaced by a new crew in the early stages of production who retained a lot of the initial work. The Pope's Exorcist released in theaters on April 14th, 2023.
