Synopsis
A newly independent India prepares for its Golden Era of Football
Inspired by the life of coach Syed Abdul Rahim, Maidaan tells the story of India's golden era of football. Set between 1952-1962, the film covers the team's game from the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, to the glorious decade that followed under the brilliant coaching of Syed Abdul Rahim portrayed by Ajay Devgan.

What to know
Ajay Devgan stars as Indian Football's unsung hero Rahim in Boney Kapoor's sports biopic, "Maidaan."
Maidaan is a sports biographical drama inspired by the real life success of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. The film is produced by veteran producer Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Zee Studios. Amit Sharma, the director of National Award winning film Badhaai Ho comes on board to direct the project. The film's powerful score is credited to the genius of A.R. Rahman.
Actor Ajay Devgan dons the lead role of Rahim, he is joined by South superstar Priyamani, as the supportive wife. The extended cast features Bengali actors Aryann Bhomwik, and Rudranil Ghosh. Actor Gajraj Rao from Badhaai Ho joins the cast in a supporting role.
