Synopsis
Barbie and Ken leave the perfect Barbie land for a taste of the real world
Everything is perfect, and every day is the best day ever in Barbieland. That's until Barbie mysteriously begins to have existential thoughts, and wakes up with flat feet. Greta Gerwig brings Barbie to the real world with her live-action film starring Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling
Barbie is a fantasy-adventure film co-written and directed by Greta Gerwig, and produced by LuckyChap Entertainment and Mattel Films. The hugely anticipated live action movie is inspired by the global sensation doll of the same name.
Greta Gerwig came on board to direct and co-write this project alongside her partner Noah Baumbach. Gerwig is best known for her work on films Ladybird and Little Women, while writer Baumbach is the talented writer behind films such as Marriage Story. The movie is loosely based on the book Reviving Ophelia by Mary Pipher.
Margot Robbie stars in the titular role of Barbie, alongside her is Ryan Gosling as Ken. The iconic duo reside in Barbieland – where they live a happy and dreamy life alongside other Barbies and Kens.
Barbie features a dynamite cast including John Cena, Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Kate McKinnon, Hari Nef, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Nicola Coughlan, and America Ferrera.
The movie also boasts a groovy soundtrack featuring tracks from Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Charli XCX, DJ Khalid, Lizzo, HAIM, Tame Impala, Ice Spice, and several other hit artists.
