Waller follows the central character in her role as the director of A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group United Support), showcasing her interactions with various superheroes from the DC Universe.
Waller season 1 is the upcoming season of Max's TV series from co-writers and creators, Christal Henry and Jeremy Carver. Waller is inspired from the DC Comics character of the same name. It serves as an addition to the first "Gods and Monsters" chapter within the DC Universe. Henry's previous writing credits include such TV shows as Watchmen, Unforgettable and APB. She was a member of the writing team that received a Primetime Emmy Award in 2020 for their work on the limited series Watchmen. Carver is best known for his role in developing the DC series Doom Patrol as well as co-developing the supernatural drama series Being Human with Anna Fricke.
The focus of the series is on Amanda Waller, the unyielding head of the A.R.G.U.S. organization responsible for supervising the Suicide Squad members. Waller is a spin-off of both the 2021 film The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker on Max. Amanda Waller's character has made appearances in various earlier DC entries including Suicide Squad in 2016, 2022's Black Adam, and the two titles mentioned previously.
Viola Davis takes on the lead role in the series as the titular character. She received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2016 for her performance in Fences and has also been nominated for her roles in Doubt, The Help and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. Steve Agee plays the character John Economos, an aide to Waller.
