Set phasers to end: Star Trek: Discovery bids farewell in fifth and final season
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 is the fifth and final season of the sci-fi TV series co-created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman for Paramount+. It is based on the original 1960s Star Trek TV series created by Gene Roddenberry and takes place 900 years following the original series. Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise served as the showrunners for this season. This season consists of ten episodes and additionally featured Jonathan Frakes, known for his portrayal of Commander William Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation, as a director. With a rich background in directing episodes across TNG, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Picard and Strange New Worlds, Frakes brought his seasoned expertise to the table. Meanwhile, Olatunde Osunsanmi maintained his role as the show's executive producer and producing director.
Sonequa Martin-Green reprises her role as the daring yet brilliant Captain Michael Burnham. Doug Jones is Captain Saru, a Kelpien with an uncanny sense of impending danger. Anthony Rapp plays astromycologist Paul Stamets, while Wilson Cruz portrays Dr. Hugh Culber, his on-screen husband and physician. Mary Wiseman returns as Lieutenant Sylvia Tilly, and Tig Notaro returns as engineer Jett Reno. Completing the talented ensemble cast are David Ajala as Cleveland “Book” Booker, Burnham's love interest, and Annabelle Wallis as the voice of Zora, the ship's sentient computer.
