Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is an action-adventure romcom anime series developed by Bryan Lee O'Malley and BenDavid Grabinski for Netflix. It is based on O'Malley's series of graphic novels and features the whole cast from the 2010 film adaptation, originally directed by Edgar Wright, returning to their respective roles. O'Malley, Grabinski and Wright executive produce the anime alongside original producers Nira Park, Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff and co-writer Michael Bacall, with Adam Seigel and Eunyoung Choi joining the Pilgrim producing family. Although Scott Pilgrim vs. the World underperformed at the box office, the film has become a cult classic amongst comic book and movie fans alike. It has specifically been noted for including a number of names that were involved in major superhero properties including Brandon Routh who portrayed Superman, Chris Evans who went on to play Captain America the year following the film’s release and Academy Award winner Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.
Michael Cera reprises his role as Scott Pilgrim in the project alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead who returns as Ramona Flowers. The remaining cast members include Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Mae Whitman as Roxie and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.

- An anime series based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim graphic novels was in the works, being developed by Netflix and Universal Content Productions. O'Malley was revealed as the showrunner, writer and executive producer for the anime series along with BenDavid Grabinski. Abel Góngora was appointed as the animator for the project. Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall, who directed and wrote the 2010 live-action film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World respectively, are also involved with the anime as executive producers.
