Synopsis
Lone pirates Stede and Blackbeard seek companions as the latter returns to cruel ways
The tale of Stede and Blackbeard continues. After going their separate ways and remaining broken-hearted, the two pirates are sailing the oceans alone, hoping to find new crewmates. However, before Stede can fully mourn, he and his recently saved crew are seeking a new vessel to resume their pirate activities. Meanwhile, the injured Blackbeard has reverted to being a cruel captain, mistreating his hostages from Stede's team and returning to his former, malicious behavior.

Our Flag Means Death season 2 is the second season of the pirate romantic comedy TV series created by David Jenkins for Max. Taking inspiration from the life of pirate Stede Bonnet and his crew on the ship Revenge, Our Flag Means Death is loosely based on their quest to establish themselves as pirates in the 18th century, with a budding romance between Stede and the renowned pirate captain Blackbeard as a major plot point. Jenkins previously created the TBS sci-fi comedy, People of Earth, which ran for two seasons prior to Our Flag Means Death. The first season premiered on what was then called HBO Max to critical and audience success, a second season was renewed three months following its premiere. Jenkins directed the first episode of season 2 while previous director Fernando Frias is also directs an episode. Jenkins executive produces the series with Academy Award winner and star Taika Waititi along with Garrett Basch and Dan Halsted.
A majority of actors return for season 2 including Rhys Darby as Stede Bonnet and Taika Waititi as Edward 'Ed' Teach/Blackbeard. Other names include Ewen Bremner as Nathaniel Buttons, Con O'Neill as Israel 'Izzy' Hands, Joel Fry as Frenchie, Samson Kayo as Oluwande Boodhari, Nathan Foad as Lucius Spriggs, Vico Ortiz as Jim Jimenez, Kristian Nairn as Wee John Feeney, Matthew Maher as Black Pete, David Fane as Fang, Nat Faxon as The Swede and Samba Schutte as Roach. Guz Khan, who previously played a member of Blackbeard's crewmates in the first season, does not return for this season.
