Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a Western miniseries on Paramount+ helmed by Chad Feehan. It is inspired by the remarkable life of Bass Reeves, the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River. The miniseries is produced by Feehan who has previously worked on Ray Donovan and Banshee. It is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, renowned for Paramount+ TV shows like Yellowstone and Special Ops: Lioness. Additional executive producers include lead star David Oyelowo, Ron Burkle, David Glasser, David Hutkin, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut and Bob Yari.
David Oyelowo takes on the lead role of Bass Reeves in the miniseries. He is a highly acclaimed actor celebrated for his performances in titles like Selma, The Butler and Silo. Dennis Quaid plays Sherrill Lynn, a Deputy U.S. Marshal, while Forrest Goodluck depicts Billy Crow, a young Cherokee man known for his passion for dime store books and unique fashion sense. Lauren E. Banks portrays Bass Reeves' wife, Jennie. Barry Pepper is Esau Pierce, the leader of the 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles. Grantham Coleman plays Edwin Jones, a charismatic individual with a promising vision for the future. Demi Singleton portrays Sally Reeves, the daughter of Bass Reeves.
