Suicide Squad Isekai is a superhero anime TV series directed by Eri Osada. It is based on the characters from DC Comics. The term "Isekai" is a Japanese phrase used to define a subcategory of fantasy anime and manga. It can be translated into English as "another world" or "different world." Within this genre, the main character is typically whisked away to or reborn in an alternate reality with distinct principles, frequently experiencing unique powers or knowledge inherited from their previous existence.
Eri Osada has previously worked on such titles as Kobato. and The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat. She has also worked as sub character designer, chief animation director and episodic director for the massively successful anime Jujutsu Kaisen.
The screenwriters for Suicide Squad Isekai are Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara. Nagatsuki is best known for writing the light novel series Re:Zero while Umehara has previously worked on Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us and Peacemaker Kurogane: Omo-michi. The duo won an Anime Trending Awards in 2022 for Best in Original Screenplay for Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song. Naoto Hosoda serves as the character designer for Suicide Squad Isekai while manga artist Akira Amano provides the original character sketches. Kenichiro Suehiro composes the original score and music for the anime series.
Anna Nagase leads Suicide Squad Isekai as the voice of Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn. Yūichirō Umehara stars as The Joker, Reigo Yamaguchi as Floyd Lawton/Deadshot, Takehito Koyasu as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, Jun Fukuyama as Basil Karlo/Clayface, Subaru Kimura as Nanaue/King Shark, Taku Yashiro as Rick Flag, Kujira as Amanda Waller, Chika Anzai as Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana, Reina Ueda as Fione, Mamiko Noto as Aldora and Jun Fukushima as Cecil.
