Paramount+ series depicts the rise of Grease’s iconic Pink Ladies
Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is a romantic comedy-musical TV series on Paramount+. It was created by Annabel Oakes and serves as a prequel to the 1978 classic musical Grease by exploring the beginnings of the Pink Ladies. Oakes also handles the show’s writing and executive producing duties while Alethea Jones directs the pilot. The series showcases musical performances executed by acclaimed singer-songwriter Justin Tranter along with choreography by Jamal Sims. Sims is perhaps best known as featuring regularly on the famed competition reality series RuPaul's Drag Race.
The series features Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia and Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, who all play the lead roles as the founding members of the Pink Ladies. Jackie Hoffman plays the role of Assistant Principal McGee, who keeps a close eye on the rebellious girl gang. The additional cast includes Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy and Maxwell Whittington-Cooper as Wally.
