John Corbett returns as Aidan Shaw in second season of Sex and the City revival series
And Just Like That… season 2 is the second season of the dramedy TV series on Max developed by Michael Patrick King. And Just Like That… serves as a continuation of the original beloved HBO series created by Darren Star, Sex and the City, which was based on the works of Candace Bushnell. The series features the main friendship group from the original series, minus Samantha Jones as portrayed by Kim Cattrall, alongside a number of other recognizable characters continuing their respective journeys as wealthy individuals experiencing their own hardships. King previously wrote and directed episodes of the original Sex and the City and this revival series as well as its two film adaptations. He also serves as executive producer on the series along with stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. John Melfi, Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky are also exec producers.
Although HBO Max does not typically disclose subscriber viewership data for its original content, it was announced that the season 1 premiere of And Just Like That... had the highest audience turnout for a series debut, encompassing both HBO and HBO Max original content launched on the platform at the time. Originally considered as a miniseries only, a second season renewal was ordered just a few months following its premiere.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon reprise their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York-Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes respectively. After appearing through text message only in the first season, Kim Cattrall's character, Samantha Jones, has a cameo in season 2.
John Corbett, who previously portrayed Carrie’s love interest during the original series, reprises his role as Aidan Shaw in season 2; the last time his character appeared in the franchise was in 2010’s Sex and the City 2. Other returning cast members include Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino, David Eigenberg as Steve Brady, Evan Handler as Harry Goldenblatt and Sara Ramirez as Che Diaz. A staple of the franchise, Willie Garson as Stanford Blatch, passed away in September 2021. Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley, Karen Pittman as Dr. Nya Wallace, Bobby Lee as Jackie Nee and Chris Jackson as Herbert Wexley round out the cast.
