Synopsis
Based on the Charles Dickens characters, The Artful Dodger and Fagin are wreaking havoc in 1850s Australia
Set in the 1850s, Jack Dawkins is a surgeon who has just arrived at Port Victory in Australia. He is looking for a fresh start, and meets Lady Belle Fox, a female surgeon and sparks fly between the two. But when a visitor from his past returns, he must decide whether he’s ready to give up his pickpocketing and scheming ways as The Artful Dodger, and embrace his new identity as Jack Dawkins.

The Artful Dodger is an eight-part series on Disney+. Based on original characters from the novel ‘Oliver Twist’ by Charles Dickens, the series takes place in Australia during the 1850s. The series is created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor. Episodes of the series are directed by Jeffrey Walker (Home and Away), Corrie Chen (Bad Behaviour) and Gracie Otto (The Other Guy, Heartbreak High).
Thomas Brodie-Sangster plays Jack Dawkins / The Artful Dodger, a surgeon who has recently arrived in Australia. Brodie-Sangster has had roles in The Maze Runner, Game of Thrones and was the cute kid in Love Actually. David Thewlis (The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, Harry Potter series) plays Fagin, with Maia Mitchell (The Fosters) as Lady Belle Fox. The supporting cast includes Miranda Tapsell, Damon Herriman, Huw Higginson, Susie Porter, Jessica De Gouw, Tim Minchin and more.
