What happens when Ned, a hyperactive and hyper-imaginative kid, overfeeds his lethargic little pet newt? Zippy Newt Food turns Ned's newt into a five hundred pound monster called Newton, the most mischievous, gluttonous, and empathetic playmate ever. An incredible mimic, Newton can camouflage himself to avoid detection. He is Ned's super hero and secret pal for life. He is always there to lend a sympathetic ear or clown around and cheer Ned up. This can be a real problem when Mom wants to know who destroyed her shag rug with the lawn mower and Dad is wondering who ate a month's worth of groceries. The incredible shrinking Newton also gives Ned the opportunity to do some growing up by solving his own problems, such as rebuffing the attentions of an amorous icky girl or standing his ground with the school bully.
