The Superman release date is 10 July, 2025. The movie, which was originally called Superman: Legacy, will premiere in cinemas across Australia.
Where does Superman fit in the new DC Universe (DCU)?
Superman is the debut film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s reimagined DC Universe (DCU). It’s the first release of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Superman is written and directed by Gunn, who has previously directed the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise, The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series.
Who is in the Superman cast?
David Corenswet stars as Clark Kent / Superman, opposite co-star Rachel Brosnahan who plays Lois Lane. Brosnahan is an Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress who rose to fame as Midge Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Nicholas Hoult (The Great, Dark Phoenix) plays Superman’s most notorious enemy, Lex Luthor, with Wendell Pierce (The Wire, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan) as Daily Planet editor-in-chief, Perry White. The cast also includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/ Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/ Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Sara Sampaio and Skyler Gisondo.

David Corenswet is the new Superman in James Gunn’s DCU. Before he was announced as the new Superman in June 2023, Corenswet appeared in the Netflix series Hollywood and The Politician.
