Dakota Johnson enters the Spider-Verse in her superhero debut
Madame Web is a superhero movie, set within Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). Produced by Di Bonaventura Pictures and Sony Pictures, the story is based on the Marvel Comics character by Denny O’Neil and John Romita Jr. S.J. Clarkson, writer on Dexter, House and Ugly Betty, directs the film, with a screenplay from Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Many high profile actresses were considered for the lead role of Madame Web, with Dakota Johnson nabbing the part. Johnson is known for her break-out role as Ana Steele in the Fifty Shades trilogy. Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney plays Julia Carpenter, with Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott and Zosia Mamet cast in the superhero film.
