After a surprise break-up, professional travel executive Amanda takes on a new assignment and travels undercover in Vietnam. Tasked with learning about the tourism industry there, she falls in love with the Vietnamese spirit, culture and her expat tour guide. The free-spirited guide leads her on a whirlwind adventure, discovering stunning beauty around the country.
A Tourist’s Guide to Love is a romantic comedy film produced by Head First Productions for Netflix, from a screenplay by Vietnamese-American writer Eirene Donohue. Donohue uses her own travels in Vietnam as the inspiration for the film. Director Steven Tsuchida (Cobra Kai, Dear White People) helms the movie.
Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That, Perception) leads the cast as Amanda, a recently single travel executive, and also serves as a producer. This marks her second romantic comedy with Netflix, previously producing Love, Guaranteed. Scott Ly plays Sinh Thach, the love interest in the film, and is joined by Ben Feldman (Superstore), Missi Pyle (Galaxy Quest), Alexa Povah and Glynn Sweet to round up the cast.
The film was shot on location in Vietnam.
