The imaginative wit and bittersweet romance of Wes Anderson at its finest
The best Wes Anderson movie (at least at the time of writing), The Grand Budapest Hotel is an intricate, hilarious, and heartbreaking tale. Filtering his trademark eye for striking visuals and silly digressions of great importance, Anderson finds a tale big enough (and personal enough) to embody all his best traits as a filmmaker. Coupled with a never-better Ralph Fiennes as the concierge of the titular hotel, The Grand Budapest is the perfect setting for a farcical mystery that breaks hearts and lifts spirits simultaneously in this truly magical movie.
