Synopsis
In Nazi-occupied France, a father and daughter must escape from a relentless pursuit
Marie-Laure LeBlanc is a blind teenage girl on the run from the Nazis. Along with her father, Daniel, the pair are trying to stop an important diamond from falling into Nazi possession. But there is one Gestapo officer who will stop at nothing to find it. They must take refuge with Marie-Laure’s great-uncle Etienne who is part of the resistance. But nowhere is safe from Nazi persecution and the trio must do everything they can to evade capture and protect everything they love from being destroyed. One of their pursuers is a young German soldier, Werner Pfennig. Horrified by all that is happening around him, Pfennig is a teenage boy who grew up or orphan. Entering the story in a key moment of discovery, Pfennig must make a choice about what he does with the secret information he uncovers.

All the Light We Cannot See is a limited series WWII drama based on the Pulitzer Prize novel of the same name written by Anthony Doerr. The show is written and developed by Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, and is directed by Shawn Levy. The director behind the series is known for his work on movies such as Night as the Museum, Free Guy, and The Adam Project. Levy has also worked on TV shows such as Stranger Things and Imaginary Mary. Grammy and Emmy Award-winning composer James Newton Howard is scoring the four-part series.
All the Light We Cannot See features a strong cast led by actress Aria Mia Loberti who plays Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind teenager living in France. She is joined by Mark Ruffalo who stars as her father Daniel LeBlanc and Hugh Laurie who plays her great uncle Ettienne. Louis Hofmann stars as Werner Pfennig. Lars Eidinger plays Reinhold von Rupel and both Andrea Deck and Marion Bailey also feature in the cast. All the Light We Cannot See was released on Netflix on November 2nd, 2023.
