Synopsis
Ted Lasso and the team face off with Nate and Rupert
The darker tone of last season sets the scene for Ted Lasso Season 3. The finale left Ted, Coach Beard, and the team reinvigorated after a tie in the final match kept them in the running. However, their main opponent West Ham has now been bought by the slippery Rupert, and Nate is revealed to have turned to the dark side as their coach. Relationship turmoil is also rife in Richmond, with Keeley and Roy on a possible hiatus, and Rebecca and Sam unclear what kind of future they can share together. With the last season severely testing the limits of Ted’s unending positivity, will season 3 see him find a healthier internal balance?

Ted Lasso Season 3 is the third season of the critically acclaimed sports comedy-drama series on Apple TV+. The programme is created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. Sudeikis and Hunt also star as Ted Lasso and Coach Beard, respectively. Season 3 sees the whole team return to the pitch, with Brett Goldstein as the surly retired footballer Roy Kent, Hannah Waddingham as Richmond’s fierce manager Rebecca, Juno Temple as the bubbly Keeley, Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt, Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya, and Jeremy Swift as the lovable Higgins. Nick Mohammed returns as Ted’s once-friend Nate Shelley, along with Anthony Head as the sadistic owner of West Ham, Rupert.
The series focuses on Ted Lasso, a former American football coach who pivots to coaching the lagging Richmond football team in the UK — all while knowing nothing about football. Ted’s boundless positivity and faith in the goodness of humanity transform the team and management, creating a tight-knit community that has each other’s backs — and wins games. But there are also those who wish to see Ted and the team fail, and Ted himself has his own struggles with anxiety and heartbreak to face.
