Season one ended with Jacob's botched rescue of Baby Joe after Lerato called the cops, who arrived just as Bola and Jacob were about to swap baby Joe for the Abayomi Oil papers. Bola got away with the baby leaving Jacob heartbroken in the park. Jacob and Lerato were in the throes of a divorce before the kidnapping. Prospero and Jacob's friendship is in tatters because of Prospero's involvement in a consortium which included Bola seeking oil acreage in Nigeria Delta. Jacob's own moral fibre is in question – shaken by his mother's affair, his own identity and his friend's betrayal. He has fallen for old flame Zanele and left his marital home. He has made no real attempt to take the Abayomi throne or earn respect from his Nigerian family. He has distanced his mother and his business is precariously dangling on the Abayomi oil fortune which underwrites his power - station. Can Jacob turn things around and become the man Chief Abayomi believed him to be?
