Synopsis
The story follows Esmeralda, affectionately known as "La Gata," a young woman who grows up in a suburban slum under harsh conditions. Raised by the exploitative Doña Rita, Esmeralda is forced to beg and sell candies on the streets to earn her keep. Despite her circumstances, she forms a childhood friendship with Pablo, a wealthy boy who secretly cares for her, defying his mother Lorenza's disdain for the poor.
