Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd co-star in HBO’s latest and dirtiest romantic drama
The Idol is a romantic-drama created by singer Abel The Weeknd Tesfaye, Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim for HBO. The series was supposed to be directed by Amy Seitz, however she left the project due to a creative overhaul, and writer/executive producer Sam Levinson was pulled in to finish directing the first season of the series.
The first season of the show will have six episodes each roughly an hour long. The series is led by the pairing of actor Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, the rising sex symbol, and actor/singer/writer/producer/music-composer Abel The Weeknd Tesfaye as Tedros, a self-help guru and the leader of a modern cult. The pair is supported by actors/singer Jennie from the K-Pop band Blackpink, actor David Levy from the hit series Schitts Creek, and singer Troye Sivan. This show also includes one of actor Anne Heche’s final performances before her tragic car accident.
The much anticipated series will include a banging soundtrack with songs by the Weeknd and supporting cast member Mike Dean, amongst other hit artists.
