What to know
Netflix joins forces with Eiichiro Oda to produce One Piece’s live-action adaptation
One Piece is a live-action adventure series based on the long-running anime of the same name. Created jointly with Shueisha, the new live-action series is co-produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Becky Clements, Marty Adelstein, Matt Owens, and Steven Maeda serve as the executive producers on the show. In addition to their executive producer duties, Matt Owens and Steven Maeda also act as the writers and show-runners for Season 1. The series retains Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece to maintain the authenticity of the live adaptation.
Season 1 features eight episodes which explore the East Blue arc from the manga. Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy dons his straw hat for the role of Luffy. He is joined by Mackenyu as the swordslinger Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as the navigator Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
