Synopsis
Society of the Snow: An emotionally charged survival story based on the true events of the 1972 Andes plane crash
Society of the Snow is a hard-hitting survival story documenting the trials and tribulations of a rugby team who suffer a terrible plane crash and find themselves stranded in the middle of a snowy mountain in the Andes. This story follows the sixteen flight members as they battle extreme weather conditions, lack of food, and the injuries from the plane crash for two and a half months until help finally arrives.

Pablo Verci's bestselling book The Snow Society gets a film adaptation
Society of the Snow is a Spanish-language survival thriller movie. The movie is based on the bestselling book The Snow Society: The Definitive Account of the World’s Greatest Survival Story by Pablo Vierci, which is a real-life account of the 1972 Andes plane crash which involved several of Vierci's friends. The movie is written and directed by J.A. Bayona best known for directing Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, with Bernat Vilaplana, Jamie Marques, and Nicolas Casariego serving as co-screenwriters. Society of the Snow is produced by Mision de Audaces FIlms and El Arriero Films for Netflix, and has been shortlisted as one of the contenders for the Best International Film at the 96th Academy Awards.
The upcoming film features a band of new actors from Uruguay and Argentina. Enzo Vogrincic Roldan stars as Numa Tucratti. Marias Recalt plays the role of Robert Canessa. Augustin Pardella plays Nando Parrado, and Tomas Wolf stars as Gustavo Zerbino. Diego Vegezzi, Esteban Kukuriczka, Francisco Romera, Rafael Federman, Felipe Gonzalez, Agustin Della Corte, Valentino Alonso, and Simon Hempe round of the rest of the cast.
