Early morning. A young couple enters the apartment below their own after locking themselves out. The home is completely empty and dark, and there is no trace of the family that the young couple have had as neighbors for years. The light doesn't work, and when they finally manage to strike a match, they see the body of the old maid sitting slumped in an armchair. TV adaptation of Abell's 1938 stage play about class and moral responsibility.
