Synopsis
Penguin and Sofia Falcone clash for control of Gotham following death of Carmine Falcone
In the wake of crime lord Carmine Falcone's death in Gotham City, a power vacuum emerges, leaving a void of leadership. Oswald Cobblepot, widely known as the Penguin and Falcone's trusted second-in-command, seems poised to take charge. However, Sofia Falcone, the late crime boss's daughter, presents a formidable opposition as she strives to establish her dominance in the city's criminal underworld. This clash sparks an escalating power struggle in Gotham, as different criminal factions vie to undermine Penguin and seize his newly acquired position of power.

The Penguin is a Max crime thriller miniseries from Lauren LeFranc. It delves into the DC Comics character's quest for dominance in Gotham City's criminal underworld. Acting as a spin-off from The Batman which released in 2022, the miniseries unfolds one week after the events depicted in the film.
Who worked behind-the-scenes of The Penguin?
Series creator and executive producer Lauren LeFranc has been a writer-producer on a number of TV shows including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hemlock Grove and Impulse.
Joining the ranks of executive producer with LeFranc are Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, Farrell, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro. With a total of eight episodes, LeFranc took on the responsibility of writing the first and last episodes, while Zobel directed for the first three episodes.
Who stars in The Penguin?
Colin Farrell reprises his role as Oswald "Oz" Cobblepot, also known as Penguin, as he continues his ascent as an underground crime lord. Cristin Milioti portrays Sofia Falcone, the daughter of the late mob boss Carmine Falcone, while Michael Zegen plays her brother Alberto Falcone. Clancy Brown stars as Salvatore Maroni, a rival crime leader. The ensemble cast features Rhenzy Feliz, along with Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O'Connell, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Theo Rossi, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau and David H. Holmes.
